Things have to be bad for me to blog about the weather!

Well they are.

Tomorrow will be the 7th day in a row of  30°C+ temperatures.

As I write this post it is 34°C Sydney and it is 11:30 at night. What is going on?

Time for some googling because I can’t sleep!

Since records were first kept in 1858, Sydney had never experienced such consistently high temperatures. Source: The Australian

Wow… now do I feel hot, in a way others haven’t for more than 150 years!

Then I did a little more investigation and it turns out that 7 days of 30°C is really no big deal.

Really you say?

According to Wikipedia (source of all great insomnia knowledge) another part of Australia suffered a heatwave that makes this one seem nothing more than a pond ripple.

During a period of 160 such days from 31 October 1923 to 7 April 1924, the Australian town of Marble Bar set a world record for the most consecutive days above 100 °F (37.8 °C).

Thank goodness for that!

I can now go to bed confident of the predicted cool change due tomorrow….. and not have to wait until the 8th of July for it to cool down.
